Live streaming of sport online is a service offered by some leading bookmakers. It makes watching many sports events possible online, as customers can stream live action to their TV, computer, laptop or tablet via the internet. Here we highlight those firms that offer the best live streaming services.
Some bookmakers have secured licenses to make certain sporting events available to customers online, via live streams. Where broadcasting restrictions apply, bookies are not able to provide streaming for those events, but on content where there is no exclusive provider, they can air it online.
The list of events covered includes many more mainstream events than might be assumed at first. Football fixtures include La Liga action from Spain, the German Bundesliga and Italy’s Serie A. During the summer, Leagues from Scandinavia and South America are shown, including Brazil and Argentina. As well as football, regular ATP tour events are viewable, darts tournaments, Rugby League and Rugby Union from the Southern hemisphere, not to mention Basketball and Ice hockey – the list goes on and on.
The firms also show all the content that would normally be available in high street betting shops, so all UK horse racing and greyhound racing is normally available. On occasion, bookmakers may require players to bet on these events (a £1 bet will be sufficient) before they are available to stream, but generally these services are entirely free.
Of the current crop of bookmakers providing live streaming, Bet365, Betfair and Paddy Power lead the way.
Bet365 are the best provider of Live streaming at the moment. They offer the largest range of events, actively promote their service and are always looking to expand and improve the offering. They are the first firm to try and make full Live streaming available on mobile devices via a dedicated application for iPhone, iPad and Android devices and are keen to maintain their position as market leaders in streaming services.

Leading betting exchange Betfair were one of the pioneers of offering Live video and live streaming services. They offer a huge range of sports and have high quality feeds from around the globe. As an innovative firm, Betfair can usually be relied upon to come up with a new feature that customers absolutely love – live streaming and the ‘cash out‘ function being two of the big ones. They have however, been guilty of resting on their laurels where live streaming is concerned, and they are at risk of being surpassed as one of the market leaders, it will be interesting to see how they respond. The trading aspect of betting on the exchanges, makes the live video extremely useful.

Paddy Power, William Hill and BetVictor
Paddy Power offer very similar services to both Bet365 and Betfair, as yet however, their list of events covered is slightly smaller than those rivals. They are still a leading live streaming provider, but come in a close third at present.
William Hill and BetVictor also offer horse racing and greyhound racing as a streamed service, but only when a minimum bet has been made on the event. BetVictor have gone further than most however, and made this service available on mobile devices, so customers are able to view races they have an interest in, while they are out and about. The firm seem to be accelerating their development of live streaming services, so are definitely a firm to keep an eye on.
