Bookmakers are unable to decide on a clear favourite for the Carling Cup title, after yesterday’s draw which saw Leeds United once again paired with Manchester United in a cup tie, while defending champions Birmingham City must travel to big spending Manchester City.
The Carling Cup third round draw has thrown up some tantalising ties, including a West London derby between Chelsea and Fulham, as well as three other all Premier League games as Everton take on West Brom, Stoke play hosts to Tottenham and Bolton travel to Aston Villa.
We are also guaranteed to see a lower league club make it to the fourth round of the Carling Cup, as League One outfit Rochdale will travel to the winner of the replay between League Two Aldershot and League One Carlisle.
Bet365 and William Hill have co-favourites of three in their Carling Cup Outright markets, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City all priced at 6.50.
But most bookmakers disagree on who should be Carling Cup favourites, with quotes for Manchester City ranging from 5.00 to 7.00, Chelsea from 6.50 to 7.00 and Manchester United from 5.50 to 7.00.
Bodog have Manchester United and Chelsea as joint favourites at 6.50, with Manchester City at 7.00 – the biggest price available on the Sky Blues at present.
