Pittsburgh won both games in LA this week and are on the verge of sweeping the Angels, for the first time in many years. With Charlie Morton on the mound, the Pirates have an excellent chance to extend the winning streak to four consecutive games.
Odds: Winner Sports 2.15
LA Angels will trust Joe Blanton once again, despite the fact that their starting pitcher lost 10/11 decisions this season. To make things even worse, his ERA stands at 5.62 and in those few outings when he kept opponents at bay his teammates provided him with insufficient runs of support. In the last couple of weeks he showed some clear signs of improvement, but unless the Angels rebound offensively he will most likely suffer his 11th defeat in 2013.
Pittsburgh on the other hand is doing just fine offensively and has scored 11 runs in two games, plenty of reasons to be confident ahead of the final game of the series. Charlie Morton split his decisions this year and conceded less than two runs per game on average, numbers that make him a certain favorite against Blanton. The Pirates have few reasons to worry, but one of them is that their starting pitcher has returned to the mound after a lengthy break caused by Tommy Lee surgery and might not last more than 5 innings.
There is no reason for why Pittsburgh should be the underdog in this confrontation, not after the Pirates won both games in the series. With the Angels sending in Joe Blanton for what is very likely to be his 11th defeat, punters should confidently take Winner Sports at odds of 2.15 for the visitors to win.
