Tuesday is going to see just four singles matches, but the quality of them should be absolutely stunning, as the fans are going to witness, among others, a duel between Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The two have already met on quite a few occasions and what should worry Federer the most is the fact that he has been struggling to put the Frenchman away in recent years. Their most recent duel, which took place during the Australian Open at the beginning of the season, went in his favour, but he nevertheless needed five sets in order to achieve that victory and that is indeed a fairly worrying sign.

On the other hand, Tsonga will be able to draw plenty of confidence from the fact that he has beaten Federer on the big stage before – and now he is going to get a chance at repeating that result in front of his home crowd. The French fans have been great so far over in Paris – and there is no doubt that they are all going to get back behind their hero today. After all, they did exactly that when Simon started to play well against the Swiss number one the other day – and we all know that it nearly turned that match upside down.

Federer nevertheless deserves to be the favourite in this match-up, but it is hard to see him being too dominant against Tsonga, which means that the local hero should get his chances at some point of the match. Taking them will get him on top – and you would expect his big hitting to seal deal if that is indeed going to happen. Backing him might therefore be a good idea, although his victory is far from being guaranteed.
