This week’s event in Eastbourne has already seen quite a few upsets and that trend does indeed look set to continue over the next few days.

The match between Jarkko Nieminen and Feliciano Lopez might look fairly uninteresting at first glance, but a closer look at it may easily reveal some value in the odds that are currently being offered for Nieminen prevailing over the Spaniard.

Of course, Feliciano Lopez is probably the better grass court player of the two and he has already proven that by beating the likes of Ricardas Berankis and Julien Benneteau last week in London. He also had the upper hand against Marin Cilic, but he couldn’t find his best in the most crucial moments and eventually failed to defeat the Croat, who then went on to make it to the final round and even took a set off Andy Murray in a cracking contest.

However, Jarkko Nieminen is one of the players that have always enjoyed playing against the Spaniard, with the current record between the two standing at 7-2 in Nieminen’s favor. That alone would probably be enough for backing him today, but the best thing of them all is the fact that Nieminen actually managed to beat Lopez on a grass court just a year ago. That should give him enough confidence to take him on today – and there is no doubt that he should be able to find a way to trouble Lopez and, at the end of the day, perhaps even get the victory under his belt. A straightforward win for the Spaniard would certainly be a very surprising result – and there is plenty that punters that realize that can choose from on Tuesday.
