Jamie Hampton, the world’s number fifty-four, might be one of the players that are going to benefit from the rain delay that affected the French Open schedule on Tuesday.

Those who were thinking about Jamie Hampton against Lucie Safarova on Tuesday should be delighted to hear that the match has actually been delayed until Wednesday, which is something that the talented American should be able to benefit from. After all, she had a fairly tough week in Brussels before the French Open, so the short break should help her in terms of both physical and mental fitness.

The other good news is that she was playing really well in Belgium, beating Yanina Wickmayer, Kirsten Flipkens, and Roberta Vinci before falling against Kaia Kanepi in a tight content which could have gone either way. Nevertheless, there is nothing that she should be ashamed of – and she will surely be full of confidence ahead of her first round clash with Lucie Safarova.

The Czech has been largely up and down so far this year, with strange losses coming as often as solid victories – that is how things have always been with her, after all. She managed to win a small tournament in Prague before coming to Paris, but, given the opposition she had to face there, that result is not really of major importance. She might be able to build on that run of results and get yet another one today, but there is a good chance that she won’t and there therefore seems to be plenty of value in going against her today. The overs might also be worth considering, although the odds for Hampton just seem to be too good no matter what is going to happen on Wednesday.
