On Friday, CSK and Delhi meet for the right to face Mumbai in Sunday’s IPL final in Hyderabad

In Monday’s eliminator CSK really disappointed, totalling only 131-4 on their admittedly very slow home pitch, after slipping to 32-3, a score that was never going to be competitive. Mumbai chased down the total with nine balls to spare to go straight to Sunday’s final.

Delhi who were in thew top two of the league table for much of the second half of the group stages were slightly unfortunate to finish 3rd and this go into the Eliminator on Wednesday. There they beat Sunrisers to advance to this game chasing down the Hyderabad total of 162 to win by two wickets with one ball to spare in a far closer game than the one earlier in the week. Rishabh Pant, controversially left out of India’s 2019 World Cup squad for later this summer, scoredk 49 from 21 balls to take Delhi close to victory.

For Friday’s game CSK, full of experience are best priced 5/6 favourites and Delhi 11/10 outsiders. Delhi have come a long way this season from being also rans last year and this would be an underdog shock if they beat Dhoni and co.

As it is Mumbai and Chennai are the joint most successful teams in the 11-year history of the IPL with three titles each and I expect them to meet in the final. CSK at 5/6 with Bet365 is my preferred bet.
