The final week of the IPL, Tuesday sees the final play off between the top two finishers in the league table with the winner earning a place in Sunday’s final.

Wednesday sees the 3rd and 4th group stage finishers play the eliminator game, the winner facing the loser of Tuesday’s game

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Chennai Super Kings at Mumbai

These two sides have been at the head of the table and qualified for the playoffs for over a week. Sunrisers made a habit earlier in the competition of winning low scoring matches with their well- balanced bowling attack pulling off several improbable wins allied to innovative captaincy and great batting form from Williamson and Dhawan. Once qualified for the knockout stages the team lost three games in a row, all high scoring encounters with their lauded bowling attack failing to fire

CSK, on their return to the competition, have consistently been near the top of the table with an all- star line up with firepower top to bottom of the batting order

This match is played on neutral territory with the winners going straight through to the final. Sunrisers have had two days more rest/less travel than CSK but are in worse form

This is reflected in prices at William Hill. CSK 4/5, Sunrisers 11/10 and I do think CSK are worthy favourites.

KKR v Rajastan Royals at Kolkota

KKR qualified for the knockout stages, in 3rd place in the table, by beating Sunrisers at the weekend chasing 172 to win with the opening pair of Narine and Lynn blasting the early part of the target away and making it a comfortable chase. Coincidentally the venue for this game is their home ground, which of course is a huge advantage

Rajastan not only beat RCB to give themselves a chance of a fourth place finish in the table but then the combination of results elsewhere (Mumbai and KXIP losing) meant they made it through, this despite the absence of Buttler and Stokes who have returned to England for the Pakistan Test series.

With home advantage, big hitters and plenty of knockout stages KKR are 1/2, Rajastan 6/4 here. Whilst KKR should be favourites, 6/4 is a big price about the underdog in a one off game here and they are a sporting betting investment.
