Into a new week of IPL matches
Monday 1st April
Kings XI Punjab v Delhi Capitals
Having won their first game the KXIP side faced the insurmountable task of chasing 218 in Kolkota against KKR and it was creditable that they fell only 28 runs short. It was a below par bowling performance against KKR’s hitters
Delhi have a 1-1 win loss record after their first two games, following on their victory in Mumbai with a defeat at home to CSK where they set the defending champions 147, a target they didn’t defend.
These two teams are amongst the favourites to finish bottom and not reach the playoffs and this is priced as a close game, 20/21 each of two with SkyBet. Modest preference is for Kings XI Punjab.
Tuesday 2nd April
Rajasthan Royals v RCB
The Royals lost their first game to KXIP failing by 14 runs to overhaul 184 having been cruising to victory with Buttler hitting 69 before a collapse after his controversial dismissal. Then despite Samson hitting a hundred in the second game they lost to Sunrisers failing to defend 198. nThis suggests a problem in their bowling ranks.
RCB have lost their first two games, at CSK and then at home to Mumbai where they fell 6 runs short of chasing 187 despite De Villers hitting an unbeaten 70.
At the prices between two winless teams I will go for Rajasthan as 11/10 home underdogs with SkyBet.
Wednesday 3rd April
Mumbai Indians v CSK
Mumbai beat RCB by six runs to get their first win of the season thanks to Bumrah’s 3-20 bowling his four overs
CSK won their second game in a row to start the defence of their title, chasing down 147 to beat the Capitals in Delhi after Dwayne Bravo had taken three wickets to restrict Delhi to a total 20 or so runs under par.
At the relatively small Wankhede stadium conditions are going to set up for a high scoring game between two of the IPL’s biggest teams, I will go for Mumbai at evens.
