Delhi Daredvils v KKR

KKR went to the top of the table at the weekend beating Sunrisers, last year’s champions by comfortably defending 180 plus at home. KKR’s spinners took 3 for 43 from 9 overs (ER: 4.77) while their seamers took 3 for 109 from 11 overs (ER: 9.09)

An under-rated side before the tournament, they have overcome the temporary loss of their “gun” batsman Chris Lynn through a shoulder injury .

If Delhi Daredevils’ inexperienced top order can continue to provide solid starts then with a strong lower order & one of the better bowling attacks in the tournament they’ll be competitive this season and indeed, unexpected to most, they are third in the early tournament table.

Here Delhi are modest underdogs at home, evens against 10/11 KKR. At the prices I have to favour Delhi here.

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Kings XI Punjab

These two sides sit in mid table, 4th and 5th, heading into this game. Sunrisers began well, winning their first two games before losing the next two with their most important batsman David Warner on who they are probably too reliant, failing on both occasions.

Kings XI Punjab have an identical record to Sunrisers but understandably will be underdogs here,as one of the least fancies of the eight franchises. Rather strangely they have taken to playing their most experienced big hitting batsman Glenn Maxwell as low as number six in the batting order

Sunrisers are 8/11 here and Punjab 5/4. I would expect Sunrisers towin

Gujarat Lions v RCB

These two star studded sides have combined for two wins in the first seven matches and are in the bottom half of the table. Gujarat got their first win last time out chasing 172 with two overs to spare to beat the Rising Pune Supergiants with Brendon McCllum top scoring with 49

RCB continue to underperform and struggled to 142 batting first in their loss to the Mumbai Indians in their last match despite the return of the talismanic ViratKohli who top scored with 62

Yet again, such is their potential on paper that RCB are priced up as favourites here despite their form and being away from home.

Gujarat are available at Evens, RCB 5/6. Purely for value, with plenty of match-winners on both sides, Gujarat Lions at evens is the bet.
