The 2013 flat season officially starts this weekend with the Lincoln Handicap meeting at Doncaster racecourse (pictured), the opening day of which kicks off on Friday March 22nd. We’ve cast an eye over the card and have found two tips from the meeting, plus one from the evening’s All Weather action at Wolverhampton. For full details of our great horse racing tips for March 22nd, read on!
5.20 Doncaster – Docofthebay @ 7/1 (8.00) with Bet365
7.00 Wolverhampton – Baltic Prince @ Evs (2.00) with Bet365
Longshot of the day:
3.35 Doncaster – Shahdaroba @ 10/1 (11.00) with BetVictor
The 7/1 (8.00) currently on offer with Bet365 about Docofthebay to win the 5.20 at Doncaster seems pretty generous, and so the nine year old chestnut gelding is the first of our horse racing tips for Friday March 22nd. He might have been plying his trade on the All Weather of late, but he’s used that time to find a little form, including a win in better company than this two starts back. I’m inclined to think he probably wants better conditions than the forecast soft ground in South Yorkshire tomorrow, but he has performed well enough on soft ground before, including over this course and distance. The price is good enough for me to take a chance, and so should you.
The second of Friday’s free horse racing tips is Baltic Prince in the 7.00 at Wolverhampton. Currently an even money (2.00) chance with with Bet365, I can see that shortening considerably in the morning. I don’t usually like to put up horse tips at such short prices, but this three year old looks well ahead of the handicapper judged on his last time out success at this course, and he can definitely follow up under a penalty. The step up in trip shouldn’t be an issue; he’s run adequately over 7f before and was staying on well enough over 6f last time out to suggest that he’ll enjoy the extra furlong.
Our bigger priced, Each-Way selection for Friday March 22nd goes in the 3.35 at Doncaster. Shahdaroba is a 10/1 (11.00) chance overnight with BetVictor and that looks like value, if ignoring a disappointing run last time out. Consider the three year old’s effort at York two runs back, where the gelding went down just a neck on heavy ground (in better company), and you will see where I am coming from. The selection is only 1lb higher in the weights than when last winning, so we could easily be looking at a double figure odds winner with this one.
