5.30 Sedgefield – Taroum @ 7/2 (4.50) with BetVictor
8.10 Kempton – Sudden Wish @ 3/1 (4.00) with Coral
Longshot of the day:
8.40 Kempton – Sweet Talking Guy @ 11/1 (12.00) with BetVictor
The first of our horse racing betting tips for Thursday September 5th is Taroum in the 5.30 at Sedgefield. Currently rated a 7/2 (4.50) chance by BetVictor, that could be a good price based on his recent form. He scored at Huntingdon two outings ago, before following up with a narrow defeat off 7lbs higher. He re-appears quickly under a 7lb penalty today, but the 5lb claimer in the saddle will negate the bulk of that and with further improvement likely, it’s worth taking a chance that he can win again today.
Sudden Wish goes in the 8.10 at Kempton and is a filly in form at present. Two runs back, she went down by just a head over a mile, running on strongly to suggest that she’d enjoy more of a stamina test. This was proven yesterday when she scored over 10f at this course, despite a rise of 3lbs in the weights. It’s not guaranteed that she will run today, due to the fact that she did compete yesterday, but if she has come out of that race well and has another crack today, I doubt that the 6lb penalty is going to prevent her from following up. I’m certainly happy to take the 3/1 (4.00) with Coral about her doing so.
Our Each-Way longshot tip for Thursday September 5th is the Lydia Pearce trained Sweet Talking Guy, who runs in the 8.40 at Kempton. Back in July, it looked as though the penny had begun to drop for this three year old gelding as he finished a creditable 3rd at Brighton before following up with a win at Yarmouth (both at today’s trip). He disappointed last time out, but the switch to the All Weather could see him improve. The progeny of his sire have a good record on artificial surfaces and are known to progress well, so there should be more to come. The only downside to this particular tip is the presence of the heavy odds on shot Marmalady, but at the current best price of 11/1 (12.00) with BetVictor, we’ll be happy enough with a place for our selection and who knows, given a bit of luck we might even get the favourite beaten.
