Recommended bets:
6.30 Lingfield – Cape Alex @ 3/1 (4.00) with Bet365

8.00 Lingfield – Desert Strike @ 5/1 (6.00) with Ladbrokes

Longshot of the day:
9.10 Worcester – Ironical @ 16/1 (17.00) with Paddy Power

First up for Tuesday’s horse racing betting tips is Cape Alex in the 6.30 at Lingfield. The four year old has had a good year so far, with two wins and a second from her five efforts, the poorest of which came last time out and was totally excusable. She slipped in the stalls and missed the break, which rather ruined her race before it was run. Returned to the all weather today, she looks to have a really strong chance as long as there are no repeats of her stalls mishap. At a current best price of 3/1 (4.00) with Bet365, I’m happy to back her.

In the 8.00 at Lingfield, Desert Strike is the second of today’s horse racing betting tips. Currently rated a 5/1 (6.00) shot with Ladbrokes, he seems too big in the market for me. Conor Dore’s seven year old is already as short as 7/2 (4.50) in places and arrives at the track in great form, having won two and placed in three of his last five races. The race he won three starts back is a handy piece of form, as two of the four opponents he beat that day have gone on to win and despite the good form of favourite Monumental Man, I’d still rather side with our pick, especially at the current prices.

Ironical is far too big a price to win the 9.10 at Worcester, currently written off by Paddy Power as a 16/1 (17.00) chance. Clearly in need of the run last time out over course and distance when finishing sixth, he is sure to improve for that effort and is only 2lbs higher than when winning the race prior to that (in October). Roughly twelve months ago he finished second over course and distance – the first of three runner-up finishes in a row – and trainer Shaun Lycett has a solid record in races of this nature at the track.
