Two of our horse racing betting tips for Wednesday August 28th come from this evening’s All Weather meeting at Kempton, with a further selection running at Carlisle this afternoon. We went close with our “longshot” Each-Way selection yesterday (second, advised at 10/1) and we fancy our chances of going one better with today’s pick, trained by Dean Ivory (pictured). 4.30 Carlisle – True Pleasure @ 13/8 (2.63) with BetVictor
6.10 Kempton – Compton Albion @ 5/1 (6.00) with Bet365
Longshot of the day:
8.40 Kempton – Mexicali @ 10/1 (11.00) with Bet365
James Bethell’s True Pleasure has been enjoying a terrific summer, with three wins and a place from her last six races. She’s currently a best price of 13/8 (2.63) with BetVictor to land the 4.30 at Carlisle, a seven runner affair, and that seems a more than fair price given that the consistent mare is only up 3lbs for her last time out course and distance success. She takes on the same level of opposition today and I see no reason why she can’t make it four wins from her last five appearances.
In the 6.10 at Kempton, Jeremy Gask’s Compton Albion looks likely to shed her maiden tag at the seventh time of asking. The three year old filly ran with credit to place on both of her last two starts and her last time out effort in particular suggested that her time may be about to come. She stayed on well at the end of that race, suggesting that the return to 6f will suit her, while her handicap mark remains unchanged for that effort. Her current odds of 5/1 (6.00) with Bet365 look a shade of value to me.
Our bigger priced Each-Way bet for Wednesday August 28th is Mexicali in the 8.40 at Kempton. Dean Ivory’s charge was far from disgraced last time out when taking a huge step up in class at Glorious Goodwood and the mare’s handicap mark is actually down 1lb for that effort. The race prior to that, she scored with something in hand over course and distance and she’s right down near the bottom of the handicap, giving her a lovely racing weight. It’s a reasonably big field (14 runners) so Each-Way is definitely the safe play, but her current odds of 10/1 (11.00) with Bet365 seem a little harsh and she looks like value.
