Our horse racing betting tips for Thursday August 15th come from Newmarket, Salisbury and Chepstow, where we have picked out a mare that’s currently 12/1 (13.00) with William Hill. The John Gallagher (pictured) trained seven year old looks overpriced to me and I am expecting a big run at a big price today. Read on to discover why…
2.40 Newmarket – Willow Beck @ 3/1 (4.00) with Stan James
5.00 Salisbury – Lady Pimpernel @ 4/1 (5.00) with Paddy Power
Longshot of the day:
5.45 Chepstow – Devon Diva @ 12/1 (13.00) with William Hill
The first of our horse racing betting tips for Thursday August 15th is Willow Beck in the 2.40 at Newmarket. John Gosden’s filly has done everything asked of her so far, winning three of her four career starts. She’s two from two so far this term, clearly enjoying the step up in trip, and she continues to progress nicely. It doesn’t seem that the latest 5lb rise in the weights will halt her progress today and I reckon that the current best price of 3/1 (4.00) with Stan James will look pretty big come the end of the race.
In the 5.00 at Salisbury, Lady Pimpernel looks to have a strong chance at a decent price this morning. The 4/1 (5.00) currently on offer with Paddy Power looks generous based on her last time out effort in better company than today. The favourite Portrait is in terrific form and will prove popular with the punters in her bid to complete a four-timer, but she’s up 22lbs in the handicap since the first of those wins (and 11lb for her last time out win) so she’s worth taking on. Our selection is a consistent sort and seemed to enjoy the step up to this trip, so she can be the one to capitalise.
John Gallagher’s Devon Diva is too big a price this morning at 12/1 (13.00) with William Hill, based on her run two outings ago at Bath. She won that race, having gone down by just a head the time before, confirming that she’s in decent enough form and although she disappointed last time, if she were completely consistent then we wouldn’t be getting the price that we are – that’s the gamble. She’s only 3lbs higher in the handicap today (negated by the 5lb claimer in the saddle) than when winning that race at Bath, a race which has since seen the third and fourth placed horses going on to win, while the second that day has consistently run with credit. In my eyes, she rates a great Each-Way bet and so she’s our longshot betting tip for Thursday August 15th.
