Thursday April 3rd is the opening day of the 2014 Grand National meeting and we’ve a couple of tips to bring you from Aintree, including a Venetia Williams trained gelding that looks to be quite overpriced at odds of 20/1 (12.00) with Stan James overnight, as well as a recent Cheltenham Festival winner (pictured).
Horse racing betting tip of the day:
2.30 Aintree – Dynaste
Current odds: 15/8 (2.88) with Bet365
4.15 Aintree – Last Shot
Current odds: 20/1 (12.00) with Stan James
The first of our horse racing betting tips for Thursday April 3rd goes in the 2.30 at Aintree, the Betfred Bowl. David Pipe’s Dynaste won the Mildmay at this meeting last year on his only visit to the course and having landed the Ryanair Chase at the Festival last month, he’s got to be respected. The main rival looks to be last year’s winner First Lieutenant who missed the Gold Cup on the morning of the race, but there are doubts based on that about whether or not he will be right, while Silviniaco Conti is a class horse on his day, but his Gold Cup fourth was a tough race and you wonder whether he’ll have anything left for today. Even at odds as short as 15/8 (2.88) with Bet365, I’m happy to back the selection.
Our bigger priced Each-Way tip for Thursday is the Venetia Williams gelding Last Shot in the 4.15 at Aintree, the Red Rum Handicap Chase. Although upped in class, the seven year old seems generously priced up by Stan James tonight, at odds of 20/1 (12.00). He has run consistently and with credit so far this year and looked to be in with a shout last time out before he unseated his rider. Clearly still in good form, I expect him to surprise a few today.
