Thursday’s free greyhound racing tips come from the Hove and Monmore tracks with both cards shown in full on Racing Post Greyhound TV, available to all through their website. Only a small number of the evening’s races have been priced up early by the bookmakers but we have focused our attentions on those and Coral seem to be doing us a favour with the Hove side of things by going a stand-out best price on both our selections there, including a 10/1 outsider who could spring a shock.

We are forced to place a bet on the 9:24 race from Hove due to the fact that the favourite, Tibetan Skies, is as short as evens (2.0) in the early prices and it is one that we simply have to take on.

It is priced up based on his last run here where it scored in an impressive 29:50s, a time that none of the other 5 dogs can match. However, on that occasion it was afforded the luxury of a clear run, something it won’t be given tonight coming from trap 2 with Larrikin in one and Droopys Patsy in the ping box of 3.

Without a clear run, the favourite is more than likely to produce a similar run to his 2nd May performance where he found trouble and could only finish 3rd in 30:13s.

We believe that the best course of action is either to lay the favourite on Betfair, if it goes off short there, or to take it on with something that might get a good run. We’re choosing the second option as we’ve opted for Droopys Patsy at a big 10/1 at Coral.

It might not have the class of some of some of his rivals in this race but we take him to lead up trap one and he has shown the ability to dip under 30 seconds round Hove, which in this case might be all it takes to grab the win at a big price.

Also at Hove we have a real classy 695m race at 10:11 featuring the runner-up of the recent Regency competition, Musical Gaga. Gaga is available at 6/5 with Coral with other firms already odds-on. The excellent thing about Musical Gaga is that he can win his races both ways, by showing early pace and by coming from off the pace.

The main competition will come from Beanos Kenny in trap 2, who impressed last week when going past Holbeins Champ for victory around course and distance but he won’t find it so easy to pass Musical Gaga who is taken to lead, and Bouncy Bocko in trap 5 who was an eye catcher late on in his stayers debut last week.

Bocko could prove a top stayer in time but we think Musical Gaga will have the edge tonight.

Our sole bet from Monmore comes in the 7:39 race where we are taking a chance on trap 6 Mays Gold who can be backed at 4/1 with Ladbrokes and represents a touch of value.

The favouritism is currently being contested by the two inside traps but we feel that Mays Gold, who normally has to come from off the pace, can grab a lead on the outside and score the win with any inside trouble.
