The highlight of Romford‘s 13 race card for Friday the 2nd of August is the 6 first round heats of the Coral Champion Stakes competition over 575m but the remaining 7 races are all open races too and the action should be first class. We’ve had a look at the card and have four free greyhound racing betting tips, including three from the heats of the Champion Stakes with our best bet seeing us back a bitch with excellent recent form around the Romford track at a price of 7/2 with bet365.

We’ve previewed the Champion Stakes competition and have two selections in the outright market, you can read that preview by clicking here.

Cavan Dancer, in trap 5, is taken to confirm her good recent form by winning heat one of the Champion Stakes at 7:46pm, at a price of 7/2 available with bet365.

Dancer has won 4 of her last 6 races over the 575m around Romford with a notable win over Head Iton Tom in a minor competition two weeks being the standout performance. She has also been consistent on the clock in those races and recent course form is obviously a huge benefit in a competition such as this.

She has been drawn well in trap 5 with crowding likely on the inner from the 4 unseeded runners and she should be able to outpace Hometown Day from trap 6 early to give herself a nice run.

The danger comes from the Henlow Gold Cup runner-up Westmead Bertie in trap 2 but with the likely inside trouble Cavan Dancer is taken to grab the victory at the 7/2 on offer with bet365.

Having tipped Blonde Reagan to win the whole competition it makes sense that we would also fancy him to win his first round heat at 8:02pm and we definitely do, especially at William Hill’s 11/4 price, with 15/8 available elsewhere.

In what is a relatively weak heat of the Champion Stakes, Blonde Reagan should be able to dictate the race from the start by leading Planning out wide before showing his excellent all round strength to grab victory.

If leading this race, which he should definitely be able to do, there isn’t anything I’ve seen from the other 5 greyhound that makes me think they’d be able to track him down. He should be able to win if only turning 2nd or 3rd too.

The William Hill price of 11/4 is really a standout price and he could go off closer to the aforementioned 15/8.

Despite Head Iton Tom‘s recent loss to Cavan Dancer, that we mentioned earlier, we should still be looking to back the dog to win heat 5 of the Champion Stakes at 8:50pm.

Prior to that defeat, Head Iton Tom had won 5 straight over track and trip, on each occasion showing excellent early pace and easily making all. Even when 2nd to Dancer two weeks ago he carded a decent time so we can’t discredit him based on that run.

Head Iton Tom is taken to come away well from trap one again and once he hits the front he is known as a greedy dog who doesn’t like to let others past him.

Killacolla Ka Ka and Bridge Ruth in traps 4 and 5 are good greyhounds but if Head Iton Tom leads this race should be over and I think he leads the race a high percentage of the time.

Back Head Iton Tom at the 5/2 on offer with Ladbrokes.

Our final free greyhound racing betting tip sees us oppose a greyhound we have sided with in recent times, Borna Karma, in the 9:24pm race as we think Kellistown Sal, from trap 3, could be good value at 12/1 with Coral given the profile and make-up of the race.

Borna Karma has won five races straight and has been easily able to dictate her races from a wide berth but the belief is that she might encounter a bit of early trouble from Courts Ad Nina in trap 5 this evening.

If those two bitches hold each other up then it could open the race up for something on the inside and it looks like Kellistown Sal would be the likely beneficiary.
