Our free greyhound racing betting tips for Wednesday the 21st of August come from the Romford track where despite there being no open class races we are still treated to a number of interesting races to decipher. We have a number of free tips for readers today with Ladbrokes being the bookmaker of choice as they are best price on all three of our main selections at prices of 4/1, 7/2, and 7/2 – with the best of those looking to have a perfect draw to work from in the final of a Owners’ Bonus Series.
At Romford it is quite rare to see a race over their 400m with only two unseeded runners but that is what we have in the 9:24pm race which I believe will play into the hands of the strong-running Roberts Deseray in trap one.
The race is the final of an A7 grade Owner’s Bonus Series which are small competitions designed to give owners the chance of landing slightly inflated prize money for their graded runners.
Roberts Deseray won his heat last week by breaking well and eventually showing good strength to stay on and peg back a number of greyhounds. He is taken to provide us with a similar performance in the final tonight.
With only two inside runners Roberts Deseray should be able to lead up trap 2, Paradisus Blue, and from there secure his rails pitch for the duration of the race.
Whilst it seems that Deseray runs poorly between bends one and two he has shown in the past he is able to recover from losing his lead round those bends to finish strongly. He has won his last two races, and three of his last four, so certainly comes into this race in good form.
The favourite, Cracktheshutters, comes from trap 5, and whilst capable of showing good early pace, he will have a tough task to clear all of the opposition to grab the lead he desires.
Roberts Deseray and Cracktheshutters faced off two races back, on the 8th of August, with Deseray leading early, losing his lead to Cracktheshutters round the first bends but then proceeding to show great pace and strength to overhaul Cracktheshutters. We could easily see a similar scenario play out tonight.
Ladbrokes are a standout price for Roberts Deseray, offering 4/1, which looks a solid bet.
The second of our free greyhound racing betting tips comes in the 9:40pm race where we have a simlar scenario to our opening tip with only two unseeded greyhounds running and trap one looking to have the ability to grab victory.
Ballyneale Robin will benefit from trap 2 being slower away to maintain his rails pitch and from there he has the recent form to grab a lead and hold it.
Recent sectional splits suggest that a few of the dogs drawn further out are a touch faster early but the fact they need to come across Robin plays into our hands and he should be able to lead. Even if one greyhound pinches an early lead from Robin he has the good middle pace to get himself back in front.
Ballyneale Robin has also been very consistent on the clock, bar last week when he was promoted to open race standard (this is an A1) and he can be relied upon to perform well at the 7/2 on offer from Ladbrokes with other looking like they have more to do to win.
The third of our main free greyhound racing betting tips sees us back Swabys Lucie, a dog we’ve been on the wrong side of a couple of times, to prove the strongest in the 10:11pm race.
Swabys Lucie’s main attribute, perhaps bizarrely, is that he doesn’t quite excel in any one area of his races but is such a solid all-rounder that he comes into consideration in almost every race.
He can win in a number of ways, as he demonstrates reasonable early pace whilst also possessing a strong finish. Importantly, he is also consistent on the clock meaning you know what kind of time you are likely to get from the greyhound.
In this race, he should be able to grab a good pitch from trap 5 in the early part of the race and it is likely that he has the strongest finish of any of the other 5 greyhounds and should be able to prove too strong.
Ladbrokes are again best price and they offer a more than fair sounding 7/2 that Swabys Lucie wins the 10:11pm race.
Below we have added three more selections where no early price is available. The emphasis in those selections is early pace where all three have the ability to grab the important early lead around Romford’s 400m trip.
