The greyhound racing action on Tuesday the 13th of August comes live from Romford where the highlight is the final of the Coral Champion Stakes over 575m which we have previewed here and have Airport Captain running as our 12/1 antepost bet. Readers in the UK will be pleased to hear that they can watch all the action live on Sky Sports and the racing is sure to provide an entertaining evening. The card features finals of many minor competitions and the best of our free greyhound racing betting tips comes in the final of the hurdles competition where we think the 2/1 on offer about our selection provides an excellent betting opportunity with Ladbrokes.
In the heats of the hurdles competition last week Lenson Johnny was able to upset the favourite, Droopys Lorenzo, and should be able to do so once again in the final this evening at a price of 2/1 with Ladbrokes.
On that occasion, Lenson Johnny led throughout and he should be able to do so again with the exact same trap draws for the two market principals as it looks like Johnny may have a slight early pace edge.
Not only does he have the early pace advantage but he also has the positive of knowing that Droopys Lorenzo isn’t the cleanest of hurdlers so he should be able to maintain any advantage he secures early.
Reading the remarks of Lorenzo’s last two Romford races show he has some inconsistencies with his hurdling with a mixture of jumping too high, jumping too early, and hesitation at the hurdles illustrating this.
Last week the prices were Lenson Johnny 5/2 against Droopys Lorenzo’s 1/2 and whilst the margin between the two has been cut this week I believe it has been cut sufficiently by some bookmakers meaning we can make an excellent bet by backing Lenson Johnny to win the 8:34pm race at a best price of 2/1 with Ladbrokes.
Whilst the first of our free greyhound racing betting tips was at a relatively short price, the remainder of our selections see us look for some larger priced value beginning with Golden Donaire in the marathon race at 7:34pm with William Hill opening at a outlier price of 8/1.
Blonde Reagan is the 2/1 favourite for the race and we have backed him twice recently without success. With Blonde Reagan it looks like he has to lead to maintain a chance as he hates being led and my opinion is that our selection can pinch a lead from Reagan early. We also have the bonus of potentially having the current stronger greyhound so we would have a slight chance of coming from behind him to win.
Golden Donaire was able to lead a strong marathon field in the heats last week before finding trouble and tailing off and she should be able to lead this race too, with some sharp 400m trials confirming her early pace is in good shape.
Trap 2, Oneco Storm, starts slower so we can avoid trouble and nip clear and show good strength to hold off any challenges with any trouble behind clearly a bonus.
A 47:53s race time back in May shows she can go fast around Romford and a repeat can be good enough tonight. The 8/1 on offer for Golden Donaire with William Hill is clear value with 4/1 available elsewhere.
The final of our free greyhound racing betting tips for Romford sees us back Milford at 7/1 with Paddy Power in the 8:04pm race where it looks like he can grab an early lead from his draw.
Milford, like many over 400m at Romford, must lead the race to win but has the draw to be able to do so with traps one and three not as quickly away as the selection.
Landed At Last and Guy Gibson from traps 4 and 5 have good early pace but perhaps don’t have the best trap draws to work from whilst Beaming Javier in trap 6 might struggle to get competitive early despite a good looking draw.
Milford looks like the most likely leader and can defy the odds of 7/1 to provide us with a big priced winner.
