The highlight of the Hove greyhound meeting for Thursday the 1st of August is the semi-finals of the Sussex Cup, which we previewed previously. However, the entire race card is set to be excellent viewing with 12 races, all open races, including three other competitions: sprint, puppy and bitch competitions. We have a number of free greyhound racing betting tips for the card, involving all of the aforementioned competitions, with the best of our selections coming in one of the puppy heats where we think a 13/8 bet with Ladbrokes should score in good fashion.

Cashen Matteo has the draw, profile, and ability to win heat 3 of the puppy competition at 9:40pm and should be backed at the 13/8 price available with Ladbrokes, with other firms already shorter.

There is a good chance that Cashen Matteo will start at a price much nearer odds-on such is the dominance he holds over the competition.

Matteo normally has to come from a fair bit off the pace to get competitive in his races but in this puppy race there is a clear lack of early pace and Cashen Matteo can get competitive early in the race.

He is the sole wide seed in the race and should be able to lead the dog in trap 5 and from there he should be able to easily get on terms with the leaders and dominate the race.

A look at his recent Hove 515m race times, when compared with the competition’s form, show that Cashen Matteo should have a couple of lengths in hand over the other 5 greyhounds in the race which should be even more significant given the make-up of the race.

Later in this article we will recommend a dog at odds-on but such is our confidence in Cashen Matteo we think he should be shorter than that dog. The 13/8 on offer with Ladbrokes is unlikely to last with it the outstanding price available.

Exocet was perhaps the standout performer in the opening round of the Sussex Cup when he cracked out and made all in an excellent time but equally eye catching was the performance of Teejays Bluehawk and the Derby semi-finalist should be backed to win his semi-final race of the same competition at 8:50pm.

In his opening round race of the competition, Teejays Bluehawk found lots of trouble and almost came to a stand-still at one point before running on in fantastic fashion to get up on the line.

His time last week was excellent too, 29:73s, and he will go even quicker with a better run. He should get that tonight if he can follow the likely leader Loughteen Blanco, in trap 3, round before dominating the race in the second half of the contest.

The price might seem a little short at the Evens (2.0) available with Totesport but it will seem huge by the end of the race and Teejays Bluehawk is the second best of our free greyhound racing betting tips.

Farloe Barracuda is one of the fastest dogs in the country as he showed on his way to securing the Golden Sprint crown over 400m at Romford recently. The Derby trip of 480m proved too far for the speedster but tonight he is back at a winnable distance as he takes part in the sprint competition at 7:46pm.

Barracuda has won 9 of his last ten sprint races and should have enough class to make up for the fact this is his first look at the Hove track.

Expect Barracuda to blast out the traps and fly round well ahead and there is nothing in the race to catch him. Like with Teejays Bluehawk previously, the price may sound skinny, at 10/11 with William Hill, but when you see the dog fly home you’ll be wishing you had more on and he definitely wins this race much more than half the time.

Elsewhere, our pick for the Sussex Cup, Express Master, looks to have a better draw to work from in his heat at 8:18 whilst we’ve went for a couple of outsiders in later races. Details below.
