Sunday night’s racing from Henlow is highlighted by the six heats of the Bunny Bookmakers Gold Cup which is an excellent 36 greyhound competition. You can read our views on that competition by clicking on this link whilst this article will look at the remaining races on the card, which can be viewed on the Racing Post website. One of the top dogs of 2012 runs this evening and looks to be coming back into good form and should be backed at 7/2 with bet365.

Coolavanny Bert finished third in the 2012 Greyhound Derby in what was a magnificent story of one man training his sole dog to success. Unfortunately Bert suffered a bad injury after the Derby that saw him not race for 8 months before returning in March where he again had the misfortune to suffer injury.

Bert was rushed back in time to compete in this year’s Derby renewal but was a shadow of himself and didn’t progress past the first round. Since then he has ran at Sittingbourne and Henlow, and looks like he starting to return to something like his old form.

Two weeks ago he ran well in defeat behind Loughteen Blanco over tonight’s course and distance and then showed further improvement in a trial last week where he flew round in 27:63s which would be one of the top 5 race times of the year.

This evening’s race is slightly easier than his last challenge and Coolavanny Bert is taken to show his customary pace to lead the 8:45pm race and card a time similar to his trial which will see him hold off all challengers.

None of his 5 greyhound challengers can compete with him in the early pace stakes and once in front Bert doesn’t like to give up his spot and the 7/2 on offer with bet365 looks like great value for a dog coming back into form.

Whilst Coolavanny Bert is the best of our free greyhound racing betting tips for Henlow on the 7th of July we also really like the look of Blackrose Bullet in one of the earlier graded races at 7pm.

Blackrose Bullet has been dropped to the A3 grade at Henlow for the first time and in this grade he should be too fast for the competition.

A quick look at the sectionals show he should be able to take a length out of the field at the start and it was only 3 weeks ago that he carded a time of 27:94s in a A2 race which is a time at the very peak of some of the other dogs’ abilities. In fact most of the rest of the field have only ran times similar to that in trials or in the A4 grade recently.

Back Blackrose Bullet to burst out the traps and give the rest no chance at the predicted price of 2/1. Stick with bet365 for your bets since they have priced up Coolavanny Bert’s race early.

Finally, we think Samui Sixty from trap 4 in the 6:30pm race might be in the right grade with the right draw for the first time in a while and could be a bit of value at the predicted price of 5/1.
