Whilst the Greyhound Derby 2014 Final is the centre piece of Wimbledon‘s card on Saturday the 31st of May we can’t avoid the other great finals on show, with the Derby Plate Final and the Champion Hurdle Final. The Champion Hurdle Final sees six top hurdlers line up in what is sure to be an exciting race, and below we preview the race and give our free greyhound racing betting tip for the Final which sees us offer up a 20/1 greyhound with William Hill.

The top two in the market for the Champion Hurdle Final are Westmead Meteor and Soviet Military with best prices of 11/4 and 3/1 available respectively, for the race which goes off at 8:28pm. The two are drawn exactly as they were for last year’s final with Meteor in trap 5 and Military on his outside in trap 6. On that occasion Soviet Military showed great pace to claim the victory.

Westmead Meteor looks to break the fastest of the two but Soviet Military shows great first bend and middle race speed and that’s where he can be stake his claim for the race, although Meteor is clearly running fast with a time which was a length and a half faster than Military’s time in the semi-finals.

Further inside the field we have Cornamaddy Jumbo drawn in an unfavourable trap 4 slot given he is a wide seed and he may not take too well to that unfamilar berth. He may give Westmead Meteor some issues early by turning right if Meteor isn’t away and gone.

The two middle seeds are in traps 2 and 3, with Alittlelessslip impressive in chasing down Westmead Meteor in the heats but he would need things to fall into place for him to win this one, and Castlelyons Cofi can potentially come away well from trap 3 and grab a lead but whether he would be fast enough is questionable. And in trap one, as the sole unseeded greyhound, we have Blonde Becker who got into the competition as a reserve and ran a big race in the heats to only fall by a length to Soviet Military.

Westmead Meteor looks set to break best, regardless of the potential trouble he faces, and should lead. From there we will have Soviet Military chasing him down outwide and he looks the slightly faster greyhound and is taken to get on top of Meteor just as he did in last year’s final. Soviet Military can be backed at 3/1 with Ladbrokes and is worth a small bet. Also worth a small bet at a huge price is Blonde Becker in trap 1 who can potentially hold his pitch well like he did in the heat and if there is trouble outside he can go well at the 20/1 with William Hill.
