Earlier this month we offered up three separate selection for the English Greyhound Derby 2013 and you can view those selections by clicking on the following links: #1, #2, #3. This article is designed to offer up some other possible selections for the Greyhound Derby to allow you to build somewhat of a portfolio for the competition. We have some to offer at very big prices, and none bigger than an interesting wide seed at 649/1 (650.0) on Betfair.

Any Dak is a Henlow runner who is a wide seed blessed with tremendous early pace. Around Wimbledon, early pace is ideal as it favours dogs that can lead and Any Dak looks like the type who can consistently clock fast sectionals.

The issue is that he has been given a troublesome first round draw, having to come from trap 3 as a wide seed which isn’t ideal but if he can find a way through the first round he should gain more favourable draws going forward and thus has the potential to make a mockery of his current price on Betfair of 649/1 (650.0). Worth a few pounds of anyone’s money.

Sticking with the early paced theme, we recommend Skate On could be a bitch to progress through the rounds with the cracking early pace she possesses. As short as 50/1 with the bookmakers, we can back her at 131/1 (132.0) on Betfair which is a must bet.

Skate On has previous Wimbledon form with a second place in the Oaks but is consistently fast early and the times she recorded throughout that competition would certainly make her competitive with the best here. The only negative is that 480m is the absolute maximum she can go and will be holding on late in races.

Airlie Impact is a Hove runner who looks to have the ability to win races in a number of ways, with decent early pace and the ability to run on in his races. Paul Young’s wide seed looks like the type of dog who can continue qualifying through the rounds and can be backed at 179/1 (180.0) on Betfair.

Finally, Holdem Spy is one of the top dogs at Coventry and is perhaps a surprise selection given his reknowned lack of early pace but the dog is such a strong runner that we can’t see him finished outside of the top 3 in any sort of race. Back Holdem Spy at 80/1 with bet365 for what should be a good value run throughout the rounds.
