Rafael Nadal has certainly pleased his fans with the easy win over Igor Sijsling, but the next round, in which he is going to face Donald Young, might be slightly more problematic.

Those who have been tracking Rafael Nadal since the start of the season know that the Spaniard has not found his best form just yet and that there seem to be plenty of problems with his game, so virtually nobody believes that he is going to capture the title in Indian Wells this week, since the level of opposition he is supposed to face is much higher than what he faced in Buenos Aires. However, the first few rounds do not look incredibly tricky and he has already dealt with Igor Sijsling, so there is little doubt that he should be considered the favorite in his upcoming match against the world’s number forty-seven, Donald Young.

Nonetheless, the American has had his fair share of big scalps on home ground in the past and there are all signs of him going through some sort of a purple patch at the moment, so, unless Nadal plays well, there could even be an upset in this one. Young is a left-hander, which is something that Nadal does not particularly like, and the conditions in Indian Wells are certainly not the slowest around, a combination that could spell trouble for the world’s number three on Tuesday. Plenty will be said about how great he is and about how much he has already achieved, but a closer look at his recent record reveals that all that greatness just isn’t shining through at the moment. If value is what you are after, back Donald Young tomorrow.
