The English Domestic T20 cricket competition is mid way through the group games and tonight sees a schedule of seven matches across the three groups. Here are some thoughts on the key games and betting recommendations

Yorkshire to beat Durham at Evens Paddy Power

Warwickshire to beat Worcestershire at 10/11 BetVictor

Middlesex to beat Essex at 5/4 Ladbrokes

The Schedule tonight is as follows

Durham v Yorkshire Durham 17:30
Leicestershire v Nottinghamshire Leicester 17:30
Worcestershire v Warwickshire Worcester 17:30
Glamorgan v Somerset Cardiff 18:30
Lancashire v Derbyshire Manchester 18:30
Essex v Middlesex Chelmsford 19:00
Hampshire v Sussex Southampton 19:00

In The English T20 competition the 18 counties are split into three Groups of six who play each other home and away. The top two in each group go through to the Quarter Finals, plus the two best points scoring third place teams.

Looking at each of the Groups in turn

North Group

Nottinghamshire are the class of the field so far. Played 4 and won 4 and top, with one of the strongest T20 batting line ups in the country with the likes of Alex Hales and Michael Lumb a cut above many of their opponents. Tonight they play a local derby against Leicestershire at Grace Road and whilst are the banker of the night to win are prohibitively priced at 1/3

There is more value in the other two games in the Group. Lancashire play Derbyshire at Old Trafford and these are two teams with similar records. Lancashire are 8/13 favourites at home, which is fair enough but do not under-estimate Derbyshire, with big hitting batsmen in this match

The remaining game is Durham against Yorkshire. I feel Yorkshire are a better team than a modest start assumes. Plenty of big hitting batting, a great fielding side and consistent and experienced bowling from the likes of Jack Brooks and Ryan Sidebottom. They are priced as Even Money underdogs to win against Durham and that is an interesting price.

Midlands Group

Two games seee Glamorgan host Somerset and Worcestershire host local rivals Warwickshire

The game in Wales is a battle of two unbeaten teams. Somerset are well fancied every year with an enviable mix of high scoring batsmen such as Trescothick and Hildreth and bowling experience in Thomas and Kirby. Glamorgan are perennial underachievers but with under-rated T20 performers such as Jim Allenby making them competitive. Interestingly Somerset are priced as strong favourites to win tonight, and I am tempted to recommend Glamorgan at 6/4 on what is usually a low scoring sluggish pitch in Cardiff.

The other game is at the foot of the table at Worcester where both teams need to win to keep fading hopes of qualification alive. Warwickshire have been having a poor season with injuries affecting them, but after their Championship win yesterday and with key players such as Woakes and Rankin available they should win at 10/11

South Group

Two games sees Essex host Middlesex and Hampshire host Sussex. Hampshire and Sussex are two of the most talented teams in the competition, powerful teams in this format in what is the most competitive group. One to watch, not to bet on

Essex and Middlesex are more inconsistent but both have winning records in this competition so far this season, and this match is played at high scoring Chelmsford. With Bopara, Shah, Napier and Ten Doeschate Essex have one of the most exciting line ups around but consistency is a problem. Middlesex area workmanlike T20 team but consistent and they play to their abilities. It may be worth a chance on them at 5/4 in what should be an exciting night for what is always a packed crowd at Essex.
