Christmas Gifts For A Gambler

Christmas is coming, so it’s time to start time to start thinking about buying the perfect Christmas gifts for your beloved friends and family. But what do you buy for somebody whose main hobby is gambling? Read on, for some great gambling themed Christmas present ideas.

For many of us, Christmas is an expensive time of year, so if you’re running to a tight budget, you probably aren’t wanting to spend too much. But that’s fine, as there are plenty of inexpensive gifts that the gambler in your life would appreciate, such as a set of KEM or Copag playing cards.

Have you ever been to a regular home game or local poker club and seen tatty old playing cards in use? Not only do they become marked, which can ruin the poker game entirely, but they become sticky and generally unpleasant to handle.

A deck of top quality, 100% plastic playing cards will last pretty much forever, as they are washable and virtually unmarkable. They can be bought in sets of two from as little as $20 (around £12) and are the perfect gift for any poker enthusiast.

Similarly, sets of poker chips can be purchased at relatively low prices and will greatly enhance a local poker game or casino party. Decent quality clay composite chips retail as low as $20 (£12) for 200. A set of 500 is more than enough to host a home poker game for six to eight players and one can be purchased for around $30 (£20).

For fans of online poker the gadget known as Wireless Poker Controller could be a great gift. It enables you to play poker without hunching over the laptop and is simplay an overall cool accessory.

There are also plenty of cheap casino, poker and gambling books on the market, which make for ideal stocking fillers. Make sure to do your research though, as some gambling books are far better than others.
As a starting point, the “Harrington On Hold’em” series is a must for any poker enthusiast, whilst fans of Blackjack will enjoy “Play Blackjack Like The Pros”. “Casino Gambling For Dummies” is a great introductory book for a relative novice gambler.

If you want to spend a little more on your casino loving friend or loved one, a proper card playing table would make an excellent Christmas gift. A table with decent quality felt, wooden track and cup holders, to seat up to ten people, can be purchased for around $280 (£180) and would turn friends green with envy at a home game. Lower end models trade for as little as $90 (£58).

If you’re feeling extremely generous, you could always take your loved one on a trip to Las Vegas, the casino capital of the world. With a little research, relatively cheap flights and hotels can be acquired and you can stay for as long as your budget allows, for an unforgettable experience.

Whatever gift you buy for your loved ones, make sure to have a very Merry Christmas.

Well, we cannot do it live for you, but if you are a regular online player, you should try out the poker odds calculator available from HoldemIndicator.com

Limit vs Big Bet Hold'em
Texas Hold’Em can be played with betting limits, or with no restrictions whatsoever. But Hold’em is Hold’em, right? Surely a good poker player can win whether the game is Fixed Limit, Pot Limit or No Limit? Although the rules of the game remain the same, there are subtle differences between Limit and “Big Bet” Hold’em. If a poker player can grasp these subtleties, there is no reason why he or she can’t succeed at all varieties of Hold’em.
