The Europa League provides a betting tip on Thursday night, in the Chelsea v Rubin Kazan clash at Stamford Bridge. The Blues boast a strong home record and are odds on jollies to secure a first leg lead, but will the home crowd go home happy?
Match: Chelsea v Rubin Kazan
Betting tip: Lay Chelsea
Best Odds: 1.58 at Betfair
Kick Off: 20:05 04/04/2013 (GMT)
Quite apart from Chelsea’s congested fixture list, they look a decent lay option purely based on the fact that Rubin Kazan are being underestimated by the layers. The Russian side are yet to taste defeat on their European travels. They have faced the likes of Inter Milan, Levante and Atletico Madrid on their own grounds and not been beaten by any of them. Chelsea have done the bare minimum required to get through in the Europa League so far and the number of recent games they have faced does not help. Rafa Benitez has never been shy to rotate his squad previously, but at the moment, he has little choice. The Blues recorded an excellent win over Manchester United in the FA Cup on Monday, but face another Premier League game on Sunday, and after Saturday’s slip at Southampton, the battle for Champions League qualification is as tight as ever. In addition to the big games coming thick and fast, Benitez also has bad news on the injury front, with both Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill set to miss out. Demba Ba is ineligible, reducing options further. With so many question marks, and the Premier League seen as a priority, the tiny odds look too short.
