The first legs of the Champions League quarter finals this weekend

Tuesday

Liverpool v Porto

A kind looking draw for Liverpool after beating Bayern Munich. Porto beat Roma 3-1 in their second leg to win on aggregate 4-3 but aren’t the prospect playing Man C, Barcelona or Juventus are for a Liverpool side with match winners up front and in Van Dijk one of the best defenders in the world

Liverpool are 1//3 to win this first leg. I like the Even money available in the market on Liverpool to win to Nil

Tottenham v Manchester City

An al premier League clash here, for Tottenham’s second game in their new stadium in what should be a red hot atmosphere. Man City, chasing the quadruple are obviously a favourite to win this competition such is their ability going forward but I think the value here, other than taking City at odds on in an away first leg, is to take the draw at 3/1. City will beconfident of winning the second leg at home

Wednesday

Ajax v Juventus

Ajax had a fantastic result in the round of 16, winning in the Bernabeu 4-1 to win against Real Madrid on aggregate 5-3 with their talented young side. Juventus recovered from a 2-0 first leg deficit against Atletico to win the second leg 3-0 with a brilliant Ronaldo hat-trick. Ronaldo has since injured his hamstring so it could be that Juventus revert to Italian type and play conservatively here waiting for the second leg and Ronaldo. It could be a cagey contest. Under 2.5 goals at 4/5 looks interesting here.

Manchester United v Barcelona

Manchester United’s reward for their brilliant last gasp win on away goals agaisnt PSG was a tie against Barcelona with Messi in imperious La Liga form and fresh off beating Lyon 5-1 at home in the last round. Manchester United’s form has slightly tailed off in recent weaks and the odds against, 21/20, available about Barcelona winning the away leg looks solid
