Arsenal v Barcelona

Arsenal looked to be heading for a group stage exit until a remarkable turnaround saw them through as runners up to Bayern Munich in their qualifying group. They started with a defeat to Zagreb and a loss at home to Olympiakos but three wins in the next four repaired the damage. The two meetings with Bayern saw Arsenal win 2-0 at the Emirates and crash 5-1 in Munich.

Domestically Arsenal are two points shy of league leaders Leicester in the title race and at the weekend they were held 0-0 by Championship side Hull City in the FA Cup with a  much rested team. With a poor record against Barcelona, Wenger has hinted that his team will defend deep and try to take the game live into the second leg

Barca came through their group unbeaten with four wins and two draws, scoring 15 goals and conceding just four. Barca kept two clean sheets in the group, wins home and away to BATE. Barcelona top La Liga with clear daylight over the Madrid clubs. They have won 20 of 25 league games.

Arsenal are at home and their opponents are 8/11 favourites which illustrates the size of the task the English side faces against the likes of Messi, Neymar and Suarez, world class players at the peak of their careers for the favourites to win the competition this year.

Barcelona -1 at 7/4 with Coral looks an interesting value alternative to taking 8/11 outright

Dynamo Kiev v Manchester City

Victory on matchday six of the qualifying group.Whilst the current team may not hold the same sort of attacking threat as illustrious predecessors, they are a tough team to beat especially at home. The Ukrainian champions conceded just four times in the group stage, keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Kiev have only been beaten once at home all season but are priced at 5/2 to win this first leg

Manchester City are in their fifth season as a Champions League entrant and have yet to reach the quarter-finals. Despite possessing a superb squad  the season to date has continually been threatened by injuries to key players but Aguero and Kompany should both play here. City are 13/10 favourites to win this first leg and as short as 1-4 to qualify from the two legs.

They may have to do it the hard way though, and win the second leg as Wednesday is going to be tough, and I like the draw at 12/5 with BetVictor for this game
