Champions League qualification is the goal for Helsingborg and Celtic on Tuesday night when they meet in Sweden. The prospect of the lucrative group stages of the competition are on the horizon, and both teams will hope to get one step closer in the first leg of this Champions League play-off tie.
Match: Helsingborg v celtic
Tip: Helsingborg Win
Odds: 2.82 with Pinnacle
Helsingborg have been in impressive form at home during this season’s Allsvenskan campaign. Beaten just once in 10 games, they rattled in 7 goals in their last home fixture. Their away from has let them down, meaning they are not in the title hunt this term – but when they have met the leading sides at home (Elfsborg and Hacken) they have won. In the two qualifying rounds that preceded this one, Helsingborg won 3-0 and 3-1.
Celtic had not won an away game in Europe for a considerable time, until that is, they defeated Helsinki 2-0 in the last round. That win aside, the Hoops are notoriously poor travellers in Europe and their domestic form does little to inspire confidence either. A 1-0 home win versus Aberdeen was secured only after a howler from the visiting keeper, and this weekend they salvaged a 1-1 draw in the dying minutes against Ross County. Manager Neil Lennon is having to cope with an injury list that currently rules out 10 of his senior players, and this fixture may stretch them to the limit.
Betpal Tip Helsingborg v Celtic
Celtic have a poor record on the road in European competition and their injury list is also a big concern. Helsingborg are strong on their own patch and the 2.82 about a home win with Pinnacle looks too big.
