Caroline Wozniacki, the world’s number nine, will have to play in Miami just a few days after her struggle against Maria Sharapova in Indian Wells and it wouldn’t come as a big surprise to see her fall against Karolina Pliskova.

Of course, there is a huge gap between the two in overall quality, but the talented Czech will be full of confidence ahead of this match, as she has already played three matches in Miami, winning them all in straight sets. A few weeks ago, she has managed to win her first WTA title over in Kuala Lumpur, so it is clear that she has plenty of momentum right now and that she will be able to come out all guns blazing today.

That obviously wouldn’t usually be enough to beat Caroline Wozniacki, but one also has to keep some of the other factors in mind. First of all, Wozniacki had a very grueling week in Indian Wells and, historically, it has never been easy for players to perform well in both Indian Wells in Miami.

Furthermore, the conditions in Miami are apparently a bit faster than in Indian Wells, which should give Pliskova at least something to build on. She might not be the biggest name around, but you can be sure that she can hit the ball really well. If she finds her range early on, Wozniacki might struggle, especially if fatigue also creeps in at some point.

Nevertheless, it is clear that this pick is all about the price, which looks quite juicy by all accounts. It is obviously very possible that we are going to see Wozniacki walking as a comfortable winner at the end of the day, but the chances of that happening are not as big as the odds are currently suggesting.
