The Premier League sides not in Europe enter the Capital One Cup competition at this stage, and tonight sees a large number of ties in this third round. Here is a look at some of the value on offer…

Yeovil to beat Birmingham at 17/10
Leyton Orient to beat Hull City at 12/5
Huddersfield to beat Charlton at 5/4

The aim of this treble is to find value prices rather than a series of short-price selections on for example Liverpool to beat Notts County or Norwich City v Bury, two of the ties tonight. In round two Betpal had 3 out of 4 for a winning treble, let down by Blackburn failing to beat Carlisle for the four timer, my most confident selection!

As ever at this stage of the Capital Cup, betting in advance can be fraught because the punter does not know the team selections and motivations of many short-priced favourites who tend not to put too high a priority on the competition.

The selections, all with BetVictor

Yeovil to beat Birmingham City at 17/10

Yeovil can be a tough place to go midweek. It’s an open ground, and frequently a tough journey. Both teams have only won 1 of 4 league games this season, and there are no expectations on Yeovil and Birmingham City still has squad strength affected by the club’s financial problems. If this were a league game, I feel 17/10 Yeovil would be a very fair price against another struggling league team

Huddersfield to beat Charlton at 5/4

Huddersfield have had a strong start to the season, led by the goals of James Vaughan. Odds against to a Charlton team already short of confidence, lacking goals and coming off a fortunate abandonment with 3-0 down at home to Doncaster Rovers at the weekend is a good price

Leyton Orient to beat Hull City at 12/5

Here’s the outlier selection. Orient are a team in form. Four wins in Four games to top League One. A Premier League side is obviously a far tougher proposition but Hull City have Manchester City this weekend. Would be very surprised to see anything like a first choice team take the trip down to East London and 12/5 for a team certain to be “up for it” against a team that might not be looks interesting

A £5 treble with BetVictor would pay £103.28. For the more conservative, the selections are obviously applicable as singles too…..
