France continues its South American adventure with another friendly game, this time taking on Brazil in front of their fans. The previous fixture ended with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Uruguay following a disappointing performance up front.
Match: Brazil vs France
Bet: Under 2.5
Odds: William Hill 1.95
The visitors will probably start with Gomis instead of Giroud upfront after the striker was toothless and didn’t have the opportunities to score. There is always the option of sending Benzema in right from the start but if Deschamps sticks to his strategy and plays with a single striker, it is unlikely for France to score in Brazil. Luis Felipe Scolari is more concerned about closing the gaps existing in his defense, after the South American conceded seven goals in the last five games.
Four of those matches ended in a draw, with Italy, Chile and England scoring two goals each despite the fact that none of these teams are very offensive ones. Assuming Scolari sticks to his strategy and only makes minor replacements upfront, we shouldn’t be surprised to see Brazil featuring a 5-4-1 starting formation. Fred, Hulk, Oscar and Neymar are all quality players but none of them come even close to the stars that once populated the Selecao and they are definitely not opponents that a precise defense can’t handle.
Both punters and bookmakers expect a high scoring match and this translates into higher odds for Under 2.5 goals to be scored. William Hill has one of the best offers around with 1.95 for less than three goals, a much better betting opportunity than backing the hosts to prevail at 1.55.
