Boston and Ottawa were supposed to meet seven times this season, but due to the NHL lockout they only met four times and will square off for the last time on Sunday. Both teams are qualified for the playoffs and the outcome of this match would only determining the team that the Senators face in the first round.
Match: Boston vs Ottawa
Odds: William Hill 2.10
The Senators made an impressive rally in the final rounds and clinched to the playoffs spot by winning consecutive games in Canada. Recent results though were disappointing and immediately after their presence in postseason the players lost focus and defeats soon followed. Interesting enough, if they fail to win away from home there is a very good chance for the two teams to meet again in the first round of the playoffs, with the Bruins having home ice advantage.
Boston players are entitled to feel confident ahead of this match, as they have defeated Ottawa four times this season and are just one step away from sweeping them for the first time in decades. Motivation might not be at its highest, but even if the host don’t play at 100%, they should be more than a match for the Senators. The back line needs some working but with the Senators scoring an average of one goal in the most recent three games nobody would be surprised if goalkeeper Tuukka Rask would get a new shutout.
Ottawa failed to capitalize on home ice advantage last week and it is most unlikely for them to suddenly rebound and cause an upset in Boston. The Bruins will push for a regulation time victory in the final game of the regular season, and William Hill is offering odds of 2.10 for this outcome.
