Betfair have announced a huge reduction in commission on their Asian Handicap markets. The promotion runs until mid-August but may be extended. The usual 5% market base rate has been trimmed to just 0.5%.
Betfair Asian Handicap commission
Betfair have reduced the market commission on Asian Handicap bets. Commission will be charged at just 0.5% until the 17th August 2013. Britain’s largest betting exchange have also suggested that if the offer proves popular, and increases betting volume on those markets, then they will extend the rate of commission beyond this date.
Asian Handicaps are growing in popularity and the drop in commission is bound to attract more liquidity into the Betfair markets. Shrewd punters will also be aware that 5% on the match odds market, may now mean a handicap bet works out at a better price, once the reduced commission comes into play – a win single is effectively the same as backing a side -0.5 on the handicap, so if the prices are the same in both markets, the handicap bet will now represent a better price. (Likewise a lay of a selection or a bet at +0.5 on the handicap).
The is an interesting experiment by Betfair and is designed to drive volume through the previously unloved Asian handicap markets. If this promotion does that job, then the offer could extend into the English season and offer some lucrative handicap betting opportunities.
