The final match of the tourney in Sydney should be an exciting affair for the Australian fans of tennis, as Bernard Tomic, who is widely tipped to replace Lleyton Hewitt as the main hope of Australian tennis, is going to face Kevin Anderson.

The match is also incredibly important for the Australian youngster due to the fact that it would draw a thick line behind the poor 2012 season by showing how much effort he has been putting in during the off-season. His start to the new year has been phenomenal so far, as his streak of seven wins includes victories against the likes of Novak Djokovic (in the Hopman Cup), Tommy Haas, and Jarkko Nieminen.

Today, he will be up against a tough opponent in Kevin Anderson, but one would expect him to prove his worth and defeat the South African, who has not been at his very best in recent matches in my opinion. He is capable of getting himself out of trouble with his huge serve and he is a player that is willing to work extremely hard, but he does not have as much talent as Tomic and that should ultimately see him struggling in this particular match-up.

The only reason that speaks against Tomic is the fact that he has never played in such an important match and that it’s possible that his mental demons are going to catch up with him today. Nevertheless, the manner in which he has been handling himself in Sydney so far suggests that nothing like that is going to happen and I am not afraid of backing the local hope to win his first ATP title today.
