Colorado has begun its ascent to the top of the West division, but they are still five points behind the LA Dodgers and trail Arizona by three wins. Atlanta is the leader of the West division and has a comfortable cushion over Washington, as well as the best home record which they hope to capitalize on tonight.
Odds: Winner Sports 2.20
The Rockies won the recent series against Milwaukee but split the last ten games, tonight starting a lengthy road trip that begins with four games in Atlanta. Their hard-hitting team will face Brandon Beachy, a starting pitcher who used to be the best in the Braves rotation, before suffering Tommy John surgery. He spent an entire year on the bench recovering, but he is now finally fit to play and the hosts will take a leap of faith with him.
Colorado know all too well how it feels to have a pitcher returning from Tommy John surgery as Jorge De La Rosa suffered a similar intervention two seasons ago. He is not the brightest star in their rotation and won 10 out of 15 decisions while limiting opponents to an average of less than three runs per game. The numbers are impressive and Jorge is also riding a hot streak, posting an ERA of 1.96 in his last seven starts although he was awarded just three decisions. The Rockies need to provide him with more runs of support and cause the untimely retirement of Brandon Beachy if they are to win the opening game.
At odds of 2.20, there is tremendous value in backing Colorado with William Hill, now that Atlanta needs to take some chances by using a pitcher who hasn’t played for one year.
