However, if the previous matches of the two are anything to go by, it might be a fairly poor finish to the early session and ticket holders that do not want to spend their entire day at the venue should probably be advised to go early and leave early instead of waiting for the only ATP match of the session.

The reason for that is that it is really hard to see past Andy Murray in this particular match. And chances are that it is actually going to be a very straightforward match for the Scot. From time to time, Murray seems to be rather awkward when trying to demolish the lesser opponents, but this is a match that he should be eager to get under his belt as quickly as possible. After all, it would be a really good idea to send a strong message to his biggest rivals at this stage of the tournament and a solid win over the Frenchman would be the strongest possible message that he could possibly send.

Moreover, this particular match-up is one in which he should be able to dominate without much trouble. Basically, Jeremy Chardy has only two big weapons – the big first serve and the flat forehand – and Murray can neutralize them both rather easily with his return of serve (since Chardy won’t be able to set up the forehand after a good return). The handicap might seem to be quite high for a match of this magnitude, but one really good set might be enough for it to be covered and you would expect the Scot to come out swinging today.
