Eugenie Bouchard, the world’s number thirteen, is widely seen as the future of women’s tennis, but she’s not exactly a top 10 player just yet, so we find it hard to believe that she’s going to beat Andrea Petkovic, the world’s number twenty, very easily. Their match, which is going to take place on Saturday, should make for a great viewing, as it promises to be a contest between two very skilled players, but we simply have to side with the underdog from Germany.

We wouldn’t have her as the favorite for the victory or anything, but the bookmakers are clearly underestimating her, as she has a 3-0 H2H record against the Canadian and that alone makes her worth a play in our opinion, since it shows that Petkovic has the right game for beating Eugenie Bouchard. Moreover, the young Canadian doesn’t look very comfortable on grass, as she lost against Vania King in Hertogenbosch and then found the going tough against the out-of-form Daniela Hantuchova earlier on this week, so the surface still holds some problems for the world’s number thirteen.

The unfortunate fact that she’s yet to beat Petkovic might also be in the back of her mind when she steps out onto the court on Saturday, as she was supposed to beat her back in Charleston and failed to do so even after winning the first set by six games to one, which is one of those results that one isn’t going to forget very quickly. She’ll have to carry the weight of expectations in this match and she’ll be the one expected to win it easily, which won’t be ideal given the history between the two. Therefore, a bet on Andrea Petkovic is to be recommended in our opinion.
