The Madrid Masters have started with a bang, but there are still a few spot bets waiting there to be taken for tomorrow, with Alejandro Falla being the number one stand-out value.

Those of you who have followed the tennis action last week will know what this bet is all about, but the reason you are thinking about is definitely not the only one I am thinking about. In any case, it needs to be said that Philipp Kohlschreiber will have no time in order to get himself ready for the match, as he spent the entire last week in Munich. That would not be such a problem in itself, but the schedule spilled over to the new week due to the bad weather Germany witnessed last week, so he was out there competing just a few hours ago.

The final match against Murray was also very tiring for other reasons, as it lasted for full three sets and Kohlschreiber could not finish things off in the decider, eventually losing in a final set tie-break. That means that he has also suffered a fairly big blow psychologically – all that waiting and trying was for nothing in the end. That will make the trip to Madrid a pretty hard one to make – and, if we are correct, a victory over Falla tomorrow would actually mean another showdown against Murray, which is the last thing the German wants right now.

The second reason, which is no less important in the grand scheme of things, is that Falla has already played two very good matches in Madrid, beating Sergiy Stakhovsky and Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets. The advantage therefore lies on the side of the Columbian.
