Today’s Australian Open schedule is going to start with a match between the world’s number four, Agnieszka Radwanska, and the world’s number six, Li Na, in a repeat of the semifinal of the tournament in Sydney.

The two have already played nine matches against each other and it is the Chinese number one who has been the more successful player of the two in this particular match-up, but Radwanska has won the most recent encounter in two rather straightforward sets and that is the result that should be the most important for the today’s match.

The fact is that Radwanska has been in a fabulous form in recent weeks and that she is coming into this battle on the back of thirteen straight wins. That is a great record on its own, but the even more fascinating statistics is that she lost exactly zero sets during that run, which is almost unbelievable in all fairness. And, fairly uncharacteristically, she has also started to produce a decent amount of aces, getting seven in against Ana Ivanovic, for example.

Both ladies love the Australian Open, since the surface allows them to use their entire arsenals of shots, but I honestly cannot see past Radwanska in this particular battle. The reason for that is that she really seems to be in the form of her life right now and that she really seems to have her eyes on the title here. She has been flying under the radar so far, with Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams being in the centre of attention most of the time, but the Pole has the game to be a real Grand Slam challenger and I expect her to record a good win over Li Na today.
